Methodology

DayOneLead collects business-registration filings (LLCs, corporations, and similar entities) directly from official state registries every day, and recomputes the aggregates on this page hourly. Counts reflect filings collected for each state, not an official state total; newer states are still backfilling history, so their totals rise over time. Monthly tables show complete calendar months only.

Interactive versions of this data, including daily tickers, county breakdowns, and category trends, are on the data dashboards, where each dataset can be downloaded as CSV.
